Queensland Working Women’s Service CLOSURE …
After 12 months of campaigning directed at the Commonwealth Government, funding to our Queensland service has now been TERMINATED.
We have been told the reason for this is geographical and we are glad that Working Women’s Centres in the Northern Territory and South Australia will receive funds….
BUT THIS MEANS THERE IS NO SPECIALIST SEVICE REMAINING IN QUEENSLAND PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO VULNERABLE WORKERS – who are predominantly female, migrant, non-union and who do not know their rights.

After 22 years of service provision – QWWS has begun winding down – and even with four fantastic volunteers on the phones in the lead up to Christmas we are swamped with clients who are more than disappointed that we cannot assist them beyond general advice.
